According to the event’s Web site, several concerts were programmed for Thursday in different places, among them the one slated for El Refugio Tlaquepaque Cultural Center with the Cuban group Vocal Leo, the Granma newspaper reported.

The event’s program also includes a round table on alternatives for the promotion of choral music in Latin America, as well as keynote lectures and academic meetings by national and foreign personalities.

A total of 13 choirs participate in the Festival, which will perform at the Cabañas Cultural Institute, the Art and Culture Forum, the Patio de los Angeles and the Diana Theater, in addition to Puerto Vallarta, Ameca and Lagos de Moreno, La Jornada de Jalisco newspaper reported.

Carlos Sanchez, general director for activities of Jalisco’s Culture Secretariat, pointed out that three children’s choirs are taking part in the event, one of the objectives of which is the development and trengthening of the International Choir Festival, which in Guadalajara has active followers among children youngsters and adults.

Scheduled for Saturday is the event’s closing gala at the Diana Theater with a concert to pay tribute to Ramon Orendain, with the participation of Acapella ensamble, Voce in Tempore, Coro Promusica, Vocal Leo, the Guayana Corporation Choir, Voz en Punto and the Festival’s Joint Choir.ACN
