Specialists from the Havana-based Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) and the Cuban Office of Industrial Property (OCPI) are representing the Caribbean nation in the event in which Brazil and Colombia are also participating.

The general director of the OCPI, Maria de los Angeles Sanchez Torres, told ACN that the Cuban product exhibited in the event is the HEBERPROT-P, developed by the CIGB and which received a Gold Medal of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) last March for its effectiveness in the treatment of more than 18,000 patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcers in Cuba and abroad.

This product has received patents all over the world, including highly developed countries.(ACN)
