Thanks to contributions by the diplomatic representations of those countries, the festival was inaugurated Friday with the film "Los Andes no creen en Dios," by Antonio Equino.

Cuban film "El Benny," which Jorge Luis Sanchez made in 2006 inspired by the life of the great Cuban musician, will be one of the main attractions at the event.

ALBA provides space for Latin American and Caribbean peoples and governments to meet, and jointly face present and future challenges.

The other members of the integrationist bloc are Nicaragua, Dominica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Antigua and Barbuda.
