Mar 30, 2011. By muhammadshahjehankhan. Bronze cups, a coat, hat and watch that once belonged to Napoleon will also be on display.

A four-storey Florentine style mansion has become Cuba's home to the life and times of the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.

The museum has been under renovation for three years but reopened to the public now. It houses close to 8,000 items from the court of the former French ruler.

Most of them were left behind by the sugar baron and Napoleonic collector, Julio Lobo, when he left Havana after the Cuban Revolution. The prize jewel of the collection is a death mask made after Napoleon died in 1821 while he was in exile on the island of St Helena.

Bronze cups, a coat, hat and watch that once belonged to Napoleon will also be on display. The Havana Napoleon Museum is considered to be one of the most important collections of Napoleon artifacts in the world, rivaling those located in Monaco and Paris.
