2011.03.29 - 20:08:58 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. Cuban and Canadian Students to Give Concert in Las Tunas. Las Tunas, Cuba.- Art students from the Cuban province of Las Tunas and Canada’s Quebec are preparing a symphonic concert scheduled for April 2 at the main theater of this city, as part of a solidarity project between Cuba and Canada.

The rehearsals are taking place at the Art School El Cucalambe in Las Tunas, eastern region of Cuba, from where students have joined colleagues from La Seigneurie, a music, dance and sports school of Quebec.

The program for the concert includes universal classics to be interpreted by a big orchestra put together especially for the occasion, and which will be accompanied by a choir and dance and ballet students, announced professors from the Cuban school.

In addition to practice for the concert, the Canadian young artists will also have the opportunity to visit historical places and communities in Las Tunas.

The exchange is part of a Cuba-Canada program that started about 15 years ago and is coordinated by La Seigneurie director Gills Tetreaut.

The Canadian professor told ACN this is the second year students from the Quebecois school visit a Cuban art school and noted that the experience has been enriching from both the professional point of view and for the development of values in younger generations based on culture and solidarity.

Pierre Boucher, one of the professors accompanying the students on the Cuba trip highlighted the mastery of technique and talent of Cuban art students and noted that he is looking to introduce some practices they have seen in Cuba in La Seigneurie in the next school year, such as baseball practice.
