2011.03.29 - 14:03:32 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. CIENAGA DE ZAPATA.-  A new international diving center will be soon inaugurated in Punta Perdiz, between Playa Larga and Playa Giron, in the western province of Matanzas.

The Deputy Sales Director with the Comprehensive Tourist Enterprise in Cienaga de Zapata, Jorge Miranda, told ACN that the new facility will meet the standards established internationally for this sport, including a hyperbaric chamber.  

Specialist Cecilio Larena explained that this diving area has a large coral reserve, seabeds of exuberant beauty, and waters of nice temperature any time of the year, as well as qualified staff.

Some of the favorite places for diving in this area are Cueva de los Peces -an 80- meter deep cave- and Caleta Buena, with natural pools and coral bottoms.

Miranda asserted that the catalogue of Cienaga de Zapata, the largest wetland of insular Caribbean, promotes nature tourism, with activities like diving, fishing, bird watching and trekking, among others.

The province of Matanzas has another diving center in Varadero, called Barracuda, which is worldwide known for the professionalism of its instructors and for the organization of excursions to several of the island’s coastal areas that are good for diving.(ACN)
