The coach of the Dominican players, Cuban expert Humberto Pecorelli, told Prensa Latina that round 13, to be played on Sunday, should not take the Cuban Grand Masters (GM) by surprise.

Dominguez and Bruzon scored ten points each after 12 rounds, including eight wins and two draws. Mexican GM Manuel Leon is in third place with nine points (eight victories, two draws and one loss).

The two Cuban players will also add points to their ELO score. In this case, ten points for Bruzon and more than seven points for Dominguez, who is the best-placed Latin American chess player.

When asked about his Dominican disciples, Pecorelli pointed out that Lisandro Muñoz is the best player among the three participants in the tournament with a score of 7.5 points, followed by Adan Mazara (five points) and Ramon Mateo, who has not given a good performance.
