2011.03.25 - 16:13:05 /radiorebelde. Chess. Havana, Cuba.- Cuban Grand Masters (GM) Lazaro Bruzon and Leinier Dominguez, along with Mexican Manuel Leon Hoyos —all with eight points—, share the lead of the Zonal 2.3 regional qualifying tournament currently underway in Santiago de los Caballeros, the Dominican Republic, which grants two tickets for the 2011 World Cup of Chess.

In the tenth round of the event on Thursday, Dominguez and Leon Hoyos tied in the top spot with Bruzon —who rested— after their victories against Salvadoran Hector Leyva and Dominican Lisandro Muñoz, respectively.

With Leon Hoyos resting, Bruzon and Dominguez will try to secure victories in the 11th round on Friday to increase their chances of winning the two tickets for the World Cup, scheduled for Khanty Mansiysk, Russia, from August 26 to September 21 later this year.

The qualifier is being played using a 13-round single round-robin format.(ACN)
