 Por Ileana Ferrer Fonte. Havana, Mar 23 (Prensa Latina) Experts and historians from Spain, Guatemala and Cuba are meeting Wednesday in this capital to discuss the importance of vernacular architecture in Ibero-American countries and its impact on cultural life.

In its second day of scientific sessions, the 8th conference of that discipline is focused on issues such as the "Havana doorway"; the "Santiago de Cuba corridor", an exterior passageway between houses, and the identity of the historic quarter in the eastern province of Camaguey.

Consuelo Acha of Spain will speak on ventilation, strategy and necessity of vernacular architecture in that European nation.

Participants in this event, held at the "Vitrina de Valonia" Gallery in Old Havana, analyzed on Tuesday the so-called remittance architecture, which copies foreign models.

Cuban Lehonia Aruca presented a study on what have been called cities of half a millennium on the island.

Visitors will have the opportunity to visit an exhibition of 20 mid-format digital photos by artists Alexis Rodriguez and Rodolfo Zamora.
