Cuban Dancer Viengsay Valdes in New York Ballet Gala

Por: Jennifer Socorro Ramon.New York, Mar, 22(Prensa Latina)  will perform Tuesday in the gala "Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow" at New York City Center.

Her partner for the Don Quixote pas de deux will be Russian dancer Ivan Vasiliev, in a piece that demands precision and shine. Choreography is by Marius Petipa, with music by Minkus.

Throughout her career, Valdes has shown her virtuosity based on the esthetic premises of the Cuban school of ballet founded by Fernando and Alicia Alonso, and has earned critics´ admiration on international stages.

Other performers in the New York gala, which features international ballet stars with winners of the Youth America Grand Prix competitions, are Jose Manuel Carreño (Cuban Ballet), Melanie Hamrick and Thomas Forster (American Ballet Theater), Rubinald Pronk (Dutch National Ballet) and Yekaterina Kondaurova( Marinsky Ballet).

After the gala, Valdes will join the latest National Ballet of Cuba tour in Mexico, and perform the Cuban version of Swan Lake at Dzibilchaltun pyramid in Yucatan.
