Gas prices at the pump went up by more than 8 percent in Cuba today, without prior notice, Miami’s El Nuevo Herald reported.

In a second price rise in five months, premium gasoline went from 1.30 convertible pesos (CUC) per liter to CUC 1.40; regular rose from CUC 1.10 to CUC 1.20. In September, the government increased gas prices by 18 percent.

At the time, the finance ministry didn’t exclude the possibility of further price increases, citing the oil price rises.
