The Genuine Cuba advertising campaign, a promoter of the most genuine values of the Caribbean nation, was successfully presented at the 31st edition of the International Tourism Stock Market (BIT 2011) which had the Italian city of Milan as its venue. 

Culture and traditions characterized the Cuban stand, of some 150 square meters with colonial atmosphere, which included the presence of a cigar roller and the music of the group Los Trinitarios, according to information provided by the Cuban Tourism Ministry.

Also represented was the famous Bodeguita del Medio, where the cocktails offered during the event were prepared and where many could taste the internationally known Cuban Havana Club Rum.

The main arteries of the city also enjoyed attractions of the Caribbean destination, by was of a bus decorated with images of the island’s nature, heritage, history and idiosyncrasy.

The Cuban delegation, headed by Deputy Tourism Minister Maria Elena Lopez, established contacts with entities in this sector, like Eden Viaggi, Presstours, Igiese, Neos, Veratour, Travel Plan, Air Force, Blue Panorama, Un Altro Sole, Alpitour, Brixia Viagi and Marevero.

Of special interest was the meeting at the municipality of Milano, where the Cuban delegation received a proposal for a tourist project called Getting to Know Cuba by way of its Lighthouses, which seeks to promote this cultural product in the Italian market.

BIT 2011, considered the largest Italian tourism fair and one of the most important internationally, included over 5,000 exhibitors from 130 countries and the participation of 150,000 people, 107,000 of them professional tour operators.
