2011.02.25 - 14:59:17 /radiorebelde.Cienfuegos, Cuba.- A selection of Cuban wines, produced with tropical fruits from the island, will be assessed by tasters in the central-southern city of Cienfuegos over the weekend.

President of the provincial coordinating committee for wine producers, Nelson Ayo, told ACN that products by almost 100 experienced winegrowers from 13 provinces of the country and a young team of two teenagers will be tasted.

Ten tasters endorsed by international certifications will choose the best wines of those presented in the different categories: semi-dry, dry, semi-sweet, sweet, white, pink and red, and sparkling wine.

Ayo said the wines were basically made out of loquat, blackberry and grape.

In addition to choosing the best products, tasters will also select the most popular wine, based not only on the taste but also on the color and presentation of the bottle.

The tasting will take place at a provisional cellar in a small hotel in Cienfuegos.

Cuban wines are produced in the homes of winegrowers who have developed a whole arsenal of techniques and experiences on the art of wine production.(ACN)
