Liquor supplier Pernod Ricard hosted over the last month an activation for the Havana Club rum brand in partnership with ferry operator Viking Line, which runs themed Cuban Dance Revolución cruises. Six vessels took part in the campaign between January 16 and February 13.

Branded Havana Club bars were used across the six ships including LCD screens, bartender t-shirts, glasses, cocktail stirrers and a themed menu. A rotating Havana Club light illuminated dance floors while 130 Cuban dancers and six cigar makers gave the vessels an authentic atmosphere, according to the supplier.

The onboard duty-free shops were also decorated with floor stickers and special units, while tasting sessions and in-store competitions helped to raise awareness of the promotion. Havana Club 3yo, 15yo and Maximo were listed across the six vessels during the campaign, and the brand ran another competition offering travellers branded goods such as mugs and bags if they answered questions about Havana Club correctly.

Pernod Ricard Travel Retail Europe area marketing manager Christian Løn said: “The Dance Revolución campaign has been a huge success for the bars and tax-free shops onboard Viking Line ships. Our Nordic consumers were very enthusiastic about trying our Havana Club Cuban cocktails and embracing the Cuban atmosphere. During the first two weeks of the campaign Viking Line served over 3,000 Havana Club mojitos and we believe this experience will encourage our consumers to choose Havana Club in the future for creating authentic Cuban cocktails.”

“We are delighted by the success of the collaboration between Viking Line and Havana Club; it has been a one-of-a-kind event and we are very thankful to have been a part of it,” added Viking Line producer Lotta Bergman.
