Cuban foreign minister will go next to Belarus. Russia and Cuba "will strengthen their mutual cooperation in economic, trade and investment areas, primarily in energy, hydrocarbons development, transport infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology," the Russian Foreign Ministry announced Monday.

The statement followed a meeting in Moscow between Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov.

"We support the continuation of joint activities aimed at creating a just and polycentric world order based on principles of equality and respect for international law," the document went on to say.

Rodríguez arrived in Russia from Ukraine, where he also met with high-ranking government officials, including President Viktor Yanukovich. Earlier, he had been in Azerbaijan.

After a one-day stopover in Moscow, Rodríguez will go on to Belarus Monday night and stay there until Wednesday.

The Belarussian Foreign Ministry said Rodríguez will meet with President Aleksandr Lukashenko and National Assembly chairman Vladimir Andreichenko "to exchange views on the state and prospects of Belarussian-Cuban interparliamentary cooperation."

Rodríguez will also meet with Foreign Minister Sergei Martinov "to consult on all issues of political, economic and trade cooperation of mutual interest," the Foreign Ministry statement said.
