2011.02.19 - 13:47:02 / radiorebelde. Cigar Lovers Worldwide Gear up for Habano Festival. Havana, Cuba.- More than 1,000 businesspeople and cigar lovers from 80 countries will attend the 13th International Habano Festival starting Monday in Havana.

This year participants in the Festival will have the opportunity to taste the cigars that will be introduced this year by Habanos S.A. to the market, and they will have access to limited productions specially made by experienced cigar rollers.

The Festival, to run until February 25 at the Convention Center of Havana, will be dedicated to three famous cigar brands: Montecristi, H. Upmann and Partagas, that are part of Habanos S.A. portfolio, Operating Marketing Director Ana Lopez told ACN.

Lopez said the traditional tours of cigar factories and Pinar del Rio’s tobacco plantations will be maintained.

This year’s program includes a lecture about the origin and development of aluminum tubes to keep Habano cigars.

World Trade Organization reports say more than 14.8 million cigars are sold every year on the international market with the United States consuming half of all Premium cigars produced annually in the world. However, because of the economic, financial and commercial of the United States against Cuba, Cuban cigars cannot be commercialized in that country.(ACN)
