SANCTI SPIRITUS, Cuba, Feb 17 (AIN) Based on experiences on each province of the country, the primary education in Cuba is undergoing an improvement process with the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund.

Since 2009, a UNICEF research project is implemented in different Cuban provinces to improve primary school teaching model in rural areas, according to Barbara Manes Leon, who is in charge of the study.

The project includes the creation of teaching materials by groups of specialists in the fields of exact, natural and humanity sciences.

As a result of the project, multidisciplinary books and pamphlets as complementing materials linking different subjects such as Spanish Language, Math, Natural Sciences, History of Cuba, etc have also been designed.

Alfonso Perez, MINED official said the project is scheduled to conclude in 2012 and it is being carried out in Pinar del Rio, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, Sancti Spiritus, Granma and Guantanamo.

Some of the project’s results have been presented in national and international forums such as the Pedagogia 2009 and 2010 congresses.

Specialists participating in the project have assured it will help improve teaching in the primary educational level as it is enriched with positive experiences in different schools including those in mountainous areas.
