Quito, Feb 12 (Prensa Latina) Ecuador will support the nomination of Cuba''s Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) for the Prince of Asturias Award, Vice President Lenin Moreno said in a press release.

Ecuador's support for ELAM was conveyed to Cuban Ambassador Jorge Rodriguez during a courtesy visit he paid to the vice president's office, the press release says.

Moreno recalled that ELAM has graduated hundreds of Ecuadorian physicians, many of whom participated in the identification and medical/scientific study of people with disabilities carried out as part of the Manuela Espejo Solidarity Mission.

The support for ELAM will be expressed in an official letter that will be published in the next few days, Moreno added.

Rodriguez thanked Ecuador for its support and confirmed that 101 Cuban physicians will take part in healthcare and preventive programs for people with disabilities in April.
