2011.02.11 - 13:54:13 / radiorebelde.Int’l Convention and Fair on Informatics Concludes on Friday in Havana. HAVANA, Cuba.- The 14th International Convention and Fair on Informatics (Informatica 2011) concludes on Friday at Havana’s Convention Center and at the Pabexpo Exhibition Hall after a week of lectures, workshops and scientific events in which participants discussed topics related to technological integration, sovereignty and independence.

The impact of information and communication technologies on sectors such as education and health, the necessary fair and equitable access to technological advances, and the arrival in Cuba of the fiber optic cable connecting the island and Venezuela were some of the highlights of the event.

The final session of the meeting includes the lectures “SoftComputing” and “Malware Scene from the VirusTotal Perspective” by Spanish Jose Luis Verdegay and Julio Canto, respectively, as well as a panel on access to programs of regional cooperation.

The event will conclude with a ceremony in which Quality Awards will be given to products and services exhibited at the Pabexpo Exhibition Hall.

The International Convention and Fair on Informatics began on Monday with the participation of nearly 2,000 representatives from 35 countries and almost 70 Cuban and foreign companies.

The event is taking place under the slogan “Converging Technologies: Integration and Independence.” It is sponsored by the Cuban Ministry of Informatics and Communications, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
