The Blue Eye platform, designed for cell phone services by the Cuban National Software Enterprise (Desoft S.A.) saves Cuba a million dollars.

The general manager of Procyon Soluciones, Rene Cruz Guerrero, told AIN that this figure represents the cost of purchasing the program abroad.

Guerrero said that companies like Ericsson, owners of platforms for telecommunications, are being pushed by the US government to prevent the selling of their products to Cuba.

He noted that the development of Blue Eye, which is 100 percent Cuban, also benefits telemedicine, contributes to the sovereignty and independence of Cuba in the field and to the computerization of society.

Some of the services available for cell phone users by way of SMS text messages are: updated information on cultural and sports events; the weather report; and location, hours of opening, and telephone numbers of different entities such as hospitals and embassies.

Guerrero explained that in order to activate these services clients should send an SMS to a short predetermined number (8888) where the first word of the text identifies the service requested.

He extended an invitation to visit website www.entumoil.cu, where it is possible to have access to 380 channels set for this purpose.

Blue Eye is one of the 23 projects exhibited in Pabexpo, as part of the 14th International Convention and Fair on Informatics 2011 (Informatica 2011), underway until February 11 at Havana’s Convention Center with the attendance of nearly 2,000 experts from 35 counties.
