News The World Grenada’s Parliament President Meets with Cuba’s Ambassador in Saint George's. Cuba’s ambassador to Grenada, Angel Reigosa, was received by Parliament President George McGuirre, an occasion that served to hold exchanges on relations between the two countries.

During the meeting in Saint George, the diplomat explained the process of updating of the Cuban economic model and the public debates now under way throughout the island, the www.cubaminrex.cu Web site reported on Tuesday.

With regard to the recent measures adopted by Washington with respect to Cuba (leaving without effect restrictions of the previous US administration), Reigosa said that they’re insufficient because they maintain the essence of the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the US on Cuba for almost half a century now.

Likewise, the ambassador referred to the case of the five Cuban Heroes imprisoned in the US since 1998, who were subjected to a biased trial in Miami and given excessive sentences for penetrating groups organizing terrorist acts from Florida against Cuba.

MacGuirre expressed his wishes for the Cuban people and government to continue moving successfully towards the future, and his appreciation for the help Cuba is giving to his country in the fields of health, education and construction, among others.

Reigosa also participated in a meeting to celebrate the 12th anniversary of the Bolivarian Revolution, organized by the Venezuelan embassy to Grenada.

He recalled Venezuela’s aid to Caribbean countries, with the implementation of projects like Petrocaribe and by way of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas.

Present in the meeting were Grenadian Foreign Minister Karl Hood and other ministers from that nation.
