Havana, Feb 7 (Prensa Latina) Experts of the United Nations will present on Monday a project to contribute to the conservation of agricultural biodiversity in six Reserves of Humanity and the Biosphere in Cuba.

Providing scientific and technical bases to ensure in situ conservation and sustainable use of traditional genetic resources that are part of the Cuban heritage are among the goals of the meeting at the Hotel Chateau Miramar.

Lázara Raymond of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment told Cuban News Agency that the meeting seeks to promote relationships between national and international organizations to be linked to the initiative.

Representatives of International Biodiversity, UNESCO, the UN Program for Development and the Global Environment Fund among others will participate in the presentation of the plan.

Specialists of the Ministry of Agriculture and other agencies of the central state administration, the National Center of Protected Areas, the National Focal Point of Global Environment Fund and the National Association of Small Farmers will attend for the Cuban side.

"Sierra del Rosario" and Guanahacabibes Peninsula in the western part of the country are among the most important Cuban Biosphere Reserves.
