Mexico, Feb 6 (Prensa Latina) A retrospective of Cuban films was inaugurated at the National Museum of Art in Mexico, as part of the first International Film Festival in Mexico City (FICC-MEXICO), which was opened on Tuesday.

The Cuban retrospective, inaugurated on Saturday and to close on Feb. 13, includes 30 films that represent the best of the Cuban revolutionary film industry in the last 50 years.

When referring to the importance of the film showing, Cuban ambassador Manuel Aguilera told the press it is a cultural phenomenon closely related to the triumph and development of the Revolution.

The revolutionary triumph has allowed for a great cultural development, and a true boom in the Cuban film industry, Aguilera said.

Meanwhile, Maria Rovira Garcia, from the Cuban Film Institute, told the press that six or seven feature films are annually made in Cuba.

At present, it is very difficult for other Latin American countries to make a film by themselves. They always have to resort to co-productions due to the lack of funds, she commented.
