Venezuelan authorities attended in the last hours six cases of cholera, bringing to 245 the number of patients treated of the 450 who came into contact with the bacteria in the Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Health confirmed Saturday .

According to a statement of the Ministry, 28 people were hospitalized, 61 were given outpatient care and 156 are symptomatic, and all were subjected to free treatment provided by the Government.

The collection of samples will start next week in medical centers and markets to determine if the dangerous bacteria arrived in the country.

So far, health authorities rule out the existence of indigenous cases.

In addition to the systematic information to the population, the Government established an epidemiological fence including monitoring the country's border crossings.
