2011.02.04 / radiorebelde.Cuban Foreign Minister Concluded Fruitful Visit to Bolivia.HAVANA, CUBA.- Senator Adolfo Mendoza, a member of the Bolivian ruling party Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS), highlighted the positive impact of Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla’s visit to his nation for the consolidation of common projects.

Mendoza, also president of the Parliamentarian League of Friendship with Cuba, told Prensa Latina news agency that the signing of a Joint Declaration and the interviews Rodriguez held with the top Bolivian authorities have historic significance.

The senator pointed out that the initiatives coming out of these exchanges allow the implementation of joint governmental and parliamentarian actions.

Rodriguez met on Thursday, in the city of El Alto, with Cuban health professionals working in a community hospital and in an ophthalmological center, where he praised the advantages and results of the Operacion Milagro free eye care program for low income people.

He said that, up to the present day, this initiative has allowed more than 573,000 people from Bolivia, Argentina, Peru, Brazil and Paraguay to recover or improve their sight.

The Cuban diplomat also met with leaders of groups of solidarity with Cuba, and attended the inauguration of a rehab center for disabled people, which is the result of another health program —called Operacion Moto Mendez— to identify and attend to people with disabilities. It was carried out by Cuban specialists and more than 82,000 disabled people were identified.

Bolivian president Evo Morales and Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca received Rodriguez at the Palacio Quemado —the seat of government—, where they signed a Joint Declaration for increasing bilateral cooperation in the areas of health, education, sports, and trade, among others.(ACN)
