HOLGUIN, Cuba, Jan 31 (acn) Cuba continues to a priority in the cultural field to the Russian people, Vladimir Yaroshevskiy, first secretary of the Russian embassy to Cuba said Sunday in the eastern province of Holguin.

The diplomat spoke about the historical links between his country and Cuba and noted that the reciprocity in the cultural field between the two countries have been strengthened over the past 50 years.

Yaroshevskiy, who is also a representative of the Russian Federal Agency for International Humanitarian Cooperation, said that in spite of the world economic crisis, his government is taking steps to increase the presence of Cuban artists in Russian stages and vice versa.

Yaroshevskiy travelled to Holguin to attend the opening Sunday of the exhibition named “Pearls from Russia” of 36 snaps showing the cultural and historical moments of Russia.

According to Julio Mendez, president of the Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC), this is the fourth exhibition by Russian creators put on by UNEAC over the past few years.ACN.
