HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 31 (acn) Ecuadorean Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño praised Cuba’s solidarity towards countries of all continents, and especially towards his nation.

“If we could give Cuba a last name I would say it would be Cuba Solidarity, because despite having economic limitations it doesn’t think twice before offering its strengths and giving them to other countries which have also many needs” Patiño told Prensa Latina news agency.

Patiño added that the Ecuadoreans have been the recipient of Cuban solidarity and they are thankful for it.

He said that over 2000 Ecuadorean youngsters are currently studying Medicine and that Cuba didn’t ask for anything in return. At the same time Cuba has helped Ecuador in other health sectors and especially in the studies of handicapped people.


“That solidarity is worth millions of dollars to us and precisely in these days we are receiving the visit of the Cuban Foreign Minister and we will activate even further the integration and mutual cooperation processes” Patiño said they are looking for ways to strengthen relations with Cuba, and reiterated his country condemnation of the US blockade against Cuba, which he dubbed as absurd, criminal and an offence to humankind.

“Cuba has given examples of dignity, sovereignty, as the proud people it is to build a society under their own terms and characteristics” he concluded. ACN
