2011.01.28 - 11:31:17 / 14th International Fair and Convention on Informatics (Informatica 2011) HAVANA, Cuba.- The 14th International Fair and Convention on Informatics (Informatica 2011) will take place from February 7 to 11 in Havana with the participation of representatives from more than 20 countries.

Dr. Jorge Luis Perdomo, deputy minister of Informatics and Communications and also president of the event’s Organizing Committee, said the meeting will facilitate the exchange of experiences among professionals of the sector, businesspeople, government representatives, international organizations, and the public in general.

The event will take place at Havana’s Convention Center and at the Pabexpo exhibition hall under the slogan “Converging Technologies: Integration and Independence.”

It will be an opportunity to promote scientific advances and innovations in different areas such as information technologies, telecommunications, electronics, medical equipment, and automation in Cuba and the world.

The Scientific Committee of the event received and analyzed 1,684 papers, 198 of which were sent by foreign authors from Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, Spain, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama, Uruguay, Turkey, Australia, Hungary, China, Bangladesh, Angola, Germany, Canada, Russia and El Salvador.

Other international events such as the Tenth Iberoamerican Seminar on Information Technologies Security and the International Symposium on Telecommunications, among many others, will be taking place in parallel with Informatics 2011.

Projects, technologies, resources, products and services in the world of informatics, software, telecommunications, electronics, automation and medical equipment, will be exhibited in the Fair.

The event is sponsored by the Cuban Ministry of Informatics and communications, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).(ACN)
