HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 28 (acn) The First Secretary of Cuba’s Young Communist League (UJC), Liudmila Alamo Dueñas, and the president of the Federation of University Students (FEU), Maydel Gomez Lago, placed a floral wreath on behalf of the Cuban people before the monument dedicated to Cuban National Hero Jose Marti at Havana’s Parque Central on the occasion of the 158th anniversary of his birthday.

The ceremony was attended by the First VP of the councils of State and Ministers, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, and by thousands of youths who marched on Thursday night from the stairs of the University of Havana to honor the Cuban independence hero.

Also as part of several activities to commemorate the date, after the ceremony, the duo Buena Fe offered a concert to end a national tour that took them to several Cuban provinces.

At midnight, the thousands of youths and other people gathered at Parque Central sang the national anthem as their “best birthday present to Jose Martí.”
