2011.01.26 - 11:45:55 /  Former Led Zeppeling guitarist Jimmy Page made an unannounced visit to Havana. HAVANA, Cuba.- Former Led Zeppeling guitarist Jimmy Page made an unannounced visit to Havana where he stayed several days, walked around the city and talked with Cuban musicians, local media reports said.

According to the Cubasí website, Page, who turned 67 this month, left Havana early this week after staying for several days at the Hotel Saratoga located in the heart of the Cuban capital.

The co-writer of Stairway to Heaven, a song composed together with singer Robert Plant, visited historical places of the city and bought emblematic photographs of Cuban history such as the famous picture of Che Guevara taken by Alberto Korda, and CDs by local musicians.

Page reportedly met with members of the Tesis de Menta rock band and with radio announcer Juan Camacho.

The musician said to be interested in the work of the Maxim Rock Theater, which is the headquarters of the Cuban Rock Agency, and about the influence of Led Zeppelin in Cuban music.

Led Zeppelin was an English rock band formed in 1968 in London. The group consisted of guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, drummer John Bonham and bassist John Paul Jones.

With their heavy, guitar-driven blues-rock sound, Led Zeppelin are regularly cited as one of the progenitors of heavy metal and hard rock, even though the band's individualistic style drew from many sources and transcends any one music genre.

The group disbanded in 1980 after Bonham accidentally died.(ACN)
