Escrito por ana valdes portela. 20 de enero de 2011, 09:37Havana, Jan 20 (Prensa Latina) Cuba will use its teaching force rationally, to preserve its achievements and raise the quality of education, said Education Vice Minister Rolando Forneiro.

Forneiro, speaking at a Wednesday press conference on the 2011 International Pedagogy Congress, responded to reporters' questions on the reduction of half a million jobs in the state sector.

"Teachers are not overabundant. A rational, but intensive use will always be made at all educational levels and provinces," Foreniro said.

"We must preserve what has been achieved, and contribute to the conservation and rational use of resources," he said.

"The purpose here is raise the quality of teaching, to ensure better-prepared teachers and teachers-in-training," Forneiro said.

Some 3,000 participants from 23 countries, including 600 Cubans, are expected to participate in the pedagogy congress Jan. 24-28.

Ministers of member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America and African countries will also attend.hr/ro/avp/rab
