Havana – The Angolan Vice President, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, Monday in Havana City defended the need for strengthening the historical relations with Cuba, aiming at stability and development of both countries.

The Vice President said so after his arrival in Havana for a five-day visit to the Caribbean island, at the invitation of the Cuban First Vice President, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura.


To the Angolan Vice President, “we are brothers, we established historical ties during the armed struggle and intend to work together towards the stability and development of both countries”.


He said that the relations between Angola and Cuba are excellent, adding that the visit will be used to make a balance of this relationship, as well as try to find other manners of strengthening these ties.


Meanwhile, the Cuban ambassador to Angola, Pedro Ross Leal, expressed the hope that the visit be beneficial for both nations.


The Angolan Vice President heads a delegation comprised of the ministers of Health José Van-Dúnem, Higher Education, Science and Technology, Ana Maria Candida Teixeira, and the ambassador to Cuba, Antonio de Carvalho Condesse.
