The submarine cable will cost USD 70 million. The cable, which is 1,012 miles long, is on board a French boat bound for Venezuela, along with technology required for cable laying and a submarine robot for installation monitoring.

A submarine fiber optic cable for telecommunications to be laid between Cuba and Venezuela will reach the eastern coast of the Caribbean island in the first half of February, state-run media reported in Havana.

The cable, which is 1,012 miles long, is on board a French boat bound for Venezuela, along with technology required for cable laying and a submarine robot for installation monitoring, Efe reported.

According to the work schedule, the installation of the fiber optic cable, which will cost about USD 70 million, will begin on January 18-20 in Camurí, near the Venezuelan port of La Guaira. The cable will reach Siboney beach at the Cuban eastern city of Santiago in the first half of February.
