Cuban judo athlete Idalis Ortiz leads the female judo delegation, which will represent the island in two events of this sports discipline set to take place from January 16th to February 14th in Europe.

Ortiz, bronze medallist in Beijing 2008, gold medal holder in Rotterdam 2009 and Tokyo 2010, was announced by his coach Ronaldo Veitía, who will be guiding the island’s experienced women delegation that will take part in both the Open Arlon Judo competition in Belgium and the Judo Grand Slam tournament in Paris.

Members of the island’s female judo delegation include Dayaris Mestre (48kg), Yanet Bermoy (52kg), Yaritza Abe l(63kg) and Onix Cortés (70kg), Kaliema Antomarchi (78kg), but Yurisleidis Lupetey (57kg) who is currently recovering from an injury.

To conclude, the Cuban female squad will train first in France, this prior to their inclusion in the upcoming important competitions to take place in Belgium and France, respectively.
