2011.01.04 - 13:37:35 / [email protected]. HAVANA, CUBA.- First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura highlighted on Monday the good state of relations between Cuba and Brazil, where he participated on Saturday in the swearing-in ceremony of the new Brazilian president, Dilma Rousseff.

During a visit to several health facilities in Caracas, Venezuela —where he arrived last Sunday from Brazil—, Machado praised the prospects of increasing bilateral cooperation and the existing bonds of friendship to which former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva made a significant contribution.

The high-ranking official described his visit to Brazil as fruitful and highlighted the common interest in improving and continuing the bilateral ties.

He also referred to his meetings with the outgoing and the current Brazilian presidents, to whom he passed greetings from the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and from President Raul Castro.
