By: Omar Isaacs. Caribbean weddings are the perfect option for so many couples. The sun, sea and sand, the beautiful weather, and the fascinating culture all make for the perfect romantic setting. Havana is one of the most interesting cities in the world, and theres a good chance you might want to visit the capital of Cuba after your wedding. Here are four things that you should absolutely make sure you do when you visit Havana.

1) Visit a Cigar Factory

Cuba is the home of cigars, and even if you dont smoke them yourself, it is one of the cultural highlights of the capital that you can experience for yourself in the fascinating Partagas Cigar Factory. Situated in the delightful Old Havana in a stunning colonial building, it is the oldest cigar factory in the country. The tours are a great way to get an insight into the workings of a real cigar factory and will provide you with a fascinating learning experience as you discover how they are made and how to tell what makes a genuine cigar.

2) Walk Along El Malecon

El Malecon is a walkway that was built at the beginning of the last century and runs right along the waterfront. This restored walkway is one of the most visited places in Havana, and is popular for meetings and gatherings as well as being an important tourist attraction. Caribbean weddings or honeymoons in Cuba can be very romantic, and a walk along El Malecon will be a highlight of your time in the capital, especially if you manage to catch a glorious sunset. Take a taxi if you must, but a walk along the four miles of tree-lined avenue is a far better way to experience it, especially if you visit in the summer and get to see the Havana Carnival.

3) Drink Some Rum

When it comes to Caribbean weddings, if you have yours in Cuba then theres a good chance rum will come into the equation somewhere. Along with cigars, rum is the other great Cuban export. As well as trying it out for yourself during your time in the capital, visit the Havana Club Museum for an insight into its history and how it is made. The tour will show you all the different steps taken to make rum, right from harvesting the sugar cane up to the bottling. Of course, youll also find a tasting bar in the Havana Club Bar, where you will get to try out the rum for yourself.

4) Visit the Cathedral

Catedral de San Cristbal de La Havana, to give it its full name, is an impressive building that was built in the 18th century. Situated in Old Havana, it has an impressive Baroque faade with one tower larger than the other. Interestingly, it was partly built from coral that was cut from the ocean by slaves. Inside youll also find a sculpture of Saint Christopher dating back to the 17th century.

This is just a taste of some of the wonderful things to see and do in Havana, a truly incredible city that you cant help but be entranced by. Caribbean weddings are popular for many reasons, and the ability to explore amazing places like Havana makes them even more tempting, so make sure you visit if you get the chance.
