15:47, December 23, 2010. Cuban First Vice-President of the Council of State Jose Ramon Machado met visiting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Konstantin Ivanovich Grishenko on Wednesday to discuss the bilateral relations.

During the meeting, both leaders said diplomatic ties between Havana and Kiev are excellent and expressed their mutual interest in strengthening the ties.

They also discussed "other issues of bilateral and multilateral interest," said an official statement.

Ukrainian ambassador to Havana, Tatiana Sayenko, Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Rostislav Tronenko, and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez attended the meeting.

The agenda of the Ukrainian minister in Cuba also includes meeting with President of the Popular Power National Assembly Ricardo Alarcon.

The delegation will also visit the Rehabilitation Center for Children in Tarara outside the Cuban capital, where children affected by the nuclear tragedy in Chernobyl in 1986, one of the most serious atomic disasters in history, are receiving medical treatment and rehabilitation.

Cuba, Ukraine established diplomatic relations after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
