HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 20 (acn) "Ernesto Che Guevara, preludio de una leyenda" (Ernesto Che Guevara, prelude of a legend) by Heberto Norman Acosta, will be launched this Thursday at 11 AM at the ALBA Cultural House.

The book deals with the arrival of the youngster that later became the legendary Cuban-Argentinean guerrilla to Costa Rica and his journey to the Jacobo Arbenz’s Guatemala in December 1953.

It also describes that epoch to the overthrow of the democratically elected government by mercenary forces supported by the United States, and Che’s move to Mexico, where after a short period he joins the preparations for the expedition to Cuba led by Cuban leader Fidel Castro.

The author used Che’s letters and the testimonies of friends to describe the personality of the young Argentinean doctor and his gradual radicalization that led him to the join the Granma yacht expedition.

Acosta became a major in Hispanic American Literature at Havana University and has worked as a scriptwriter and director of documentaries. He wrote the “La palabra empeñada” (The given word) that deals with the Granma yacht expedition’s preparations.
