December 14, 2010. Accra, Dec. 14, GNA - Ghana on Tuesday fulfilled her part of the Usufruct Agreement signed in April, 1982 with Cuba following the handing over of the Chancery building of the Cuban Embassy in Accra.

Under the agreement, both countries agreed on reciprocal arrangement whereby Cuba would provide Ghana Embassy in Havana with building materials to construct a Chancery and Ghana would offer the same assistance to the Cuban Embassy.

Ghana Embassy in Cuba has already been provided with comfortable and regularly maintained premises for use as Chancery and residence for officials, Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, announced at the official handing over of the Cuban Chancery in Accra.

He commended the Cuban Government for its immense contribution towards the education and health sectors in the country.

"Cuba's invaluable interventions in these sectors not only in Ghana but throughout the developing world, have contributed significantly to the well-being of millions and also broadened mutual cooperation at all levels," he said.

Alhjai Mumuni said the event demonstrated the mutual trust, solidarity and commitment that existed between both countries, and expressed appreciation to the Cuban Government for its continuous friendship and support.

Dr Miguel Perez Cruz, Cuban Ambassador to Ghana, thanked the Ghana Government for the political will to fulfil its side of the agreement.
