The Uruguayan film, La Vida ütil, by Federico Veiroj,was given the Coral Award to best long fiction film meanwhile the second place belonged to the Chilean Pablo Larraín with Post Mortem.

The third place was won by the Mexican  María Novaro for Las buenas hierbas (The Good Herbs). Corals to the best male and female performances were achieved by Alfredo Castro and Antonia Zegers, protagonists of Post Mortem and best director for the Cuban Fernando Pérez for his film: Martí, el ojo del canario.
