Jamaica Observer. Saturday, December 11, 2010. CUBAN foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, will arrive in Jamaica tomorrow night for an official visit aimed at deepening relations between the two countries.

Rodriguez will hold bilateral talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kenneth Baugh and senior officials.

The two countries have continued to cooperate in areas including education, agriculture, energy, tourism and health care. During his visit Rodriguez will visit the eye care centre at the National Chest Hospital where he will meet with Cuban staff and tour the facilities.

More than 1,000 Jamaicans have received surgeries and over 4,000 have been screened at the centres, which were opened in January of this year. The centres are equipped by Cuba and staffed by medical staff from the neighbouring Caribbean country.

Among other engagements Rodriguez will pay courtesy calls on Prime Minster Bruce Golding, Leader of the Opposition Portia Simpson Miller and Caricom special representative to Haiti PJ Patterson.
