By: Ileana Ferrer Fonte. jueves, 02 de diciembre de 2010. 11:39 Havana, Dec 2 (Prensa Latina) The 32nd International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, which starts Thursday in Havana, will screen 515 films and honor the 100th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution.

"Revolucion" is the name of a movie comprising ten shorts of 10 minutes each and shot by young Mexican filmmakers Fernando Embcke, Gael Garcia Bernal, Mariana Chenillo, Diego Luna and Gerardo Naranjo, and will be shown at the opening ceremony in the Karl Marx Theater of the Cuban capital.

As he does every year, the president of the festival, Alfredo Guevara, will welcome guests, some of whom are attending the festival for the first time.

Young Cuban jazz player Hernan Lopez Nussa and his band will perform at the opening as well.

About 122 works will be competing this year, more than in 2009, and they include 21 feature films, 24 first works, 23 medium and short films, 26 documentaries, 28 animated films, 25 original screenplays, and 18 posters.

In addition to movies, the festival also includes parallel exhibitions, concerts, book launchings, and theoretical seminars.
