2010.11.12 - 15:41:05 / [email protected]. Havana, Cuba.- The Cuban Academy of Sciences (ACC) will assess the admission of foreign experts linked to this organization that contribute to the development of their specialities.

The president of the Academy, Ismael Clark Arxer, told ACN that analyzing recommendations is one of the key issues to discuss during a plenary meeting scheduled for the Theatre of the National Aquarium beginning on Saturday, November 13.

Up to present day, Atilio Borón (Argentina), Winston Mellowes (Barbados), Salvador Barber, Carmen Benedito y Alberto Giraldes (Spain), Stanley N. Katz (United States), David Mister (Great Britain), Gerald Lalor (Jamaica), Zhores Alferov (Russia), Mario Bonetti (Dominican Republic), Mohamed Hassan (Sudan), George Melville (Trinidad) and Harold Ramkinson (Tobago) are the foreign members of the ACC.

At the meeting they will also consider proposals for Honorary, Permanent and Merit academicians, which are the majority and are organized in sections (Agrarian; Biomedical, Natural, Exact and Technical Sciences; and Humanistic Social Sciences).

The meeting agenda also includes the preparations for the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the ACC and the 150th anniversary of the Academy of Medical, Physical and Natural Sciences of Havana.
