2010.11.09 - 13:28:02 / [email protected]. CIENFUEGOS, CUBA.- The exhibit “La puerta de la amistad: imagenes de la vida cotidiana de Indonesia” (The gate of  friendship: Indonesia’s everyday life) will be inaugurated on Thursday, November 11, in the central Cuban city of Cienfuegos.

A member of the Plastic Arts’ Provincial Council, Ana María Félix González, told ACN that this institution will exhibit 60 photographs on the cultural and everyday life of the nation from November 11 to 15.

She pointed out that the exhibit is the work of 10 photographers –Sudarmanto Edris, Zet Zaini, Dewan Irawan, Rifan Mulyawan and Fajar Ekasaputra, among others— and announced that the Indonesian ambassador to Havana, Banua Radja Manik, will attend the inauguration.

Cuba and Indonesia established diplomatic relations 50 years ago, on January 22, 1960. Bilateral cooperation was later reinforced with the visit of Achmed Sukarno, first head of state to visit Cuba after the triumph of the Revolution, and with a reciprocal visit of Ernesto Che Guevara to that Asian country.

Indonesia is located between the Indic and the Pacific Ocean and is made up of more than 17,000 islands with a total population of about 242 million people, which makes it one of the most densely populated nations worldwide.

Indonesia is also one of the biggest oil exporters in Southeast Asia and one of the biggest exporters of natural gas and pressed wood in the world.
