Until next December, the Spanish American Center of Culture will be the venue of an exhibition with which the outstanding plastic arts artist has intended to demonstrate that he is still active. Several works made between years 2009 and 2010 prove this.
 
"When one exhibits, the word speaks by itself, you are exhibiting yourself to the public, to the critic, to the history of art", commented Sosabravo, this the reason that gives a great value to the fact of sharing his work, which has evolved towards the use of more and more intense colors.
 
Strength and vitality reveal the paintings at first sight; his creator has poured on them a large dose of humor and Cuban identity. The use comic strips, the recurrence in popular topics and characters and greater liberty in the use of cloths in the collage contribute with singularity and freshness to this delivery of Alfredo Sosabravo.
 
"Encounter of Shortsighted" and "Robotic Love", for example, combine visual elements with very brief texts or comics to complete a scene that could be described as of customs and picaresque.
   
The ceramic could not be missing, hence large plates accompany the canvasses. More discreet perhaps in the coloring, are witness of the continuity in the style that lets Sosabravo be recognized immediately.
 
It’s also exhibited a group of bronze sculptures, decorated in many cases with Venetian glass. In other occasions, Sosabravo has exhibited to the Cuban public pieces fully elaborated in this material, however, this time he wanted to give privileges to bronze, a work in which already accumulates more than ten years of experience.
 
The interest of putting glass fully in function of copper gives a very special effect in pieces like "Figure of Carnival" whose meaning is definitively conformed with the form and coloring of the details of the glass.
 
The woman, seen in different ways is the main character of the three-dimensional segment of this exhibition. The breasts jot out over and over as distinctive element of the femininity, featured in many occasions by the beauty of the glass.
 
A few men wearing tie and others sunglasses accompany the ladies and most of them, despite of being created in Europe, I fancied with a physiognomy and some attributes absolutely Cuban.
 
Alfredo Sosabravo fuses his bronze in Italy, near the city of Verona and his pieces of Venetian glass are made in the island of equal name in Venice, from those remote places they reached this exhibition almost directly, hence the maestro has announced that he plans to drop by from time to time, to observe the dialogue that is established among the pieces of the exhibition.
 
He works every day, still at his eighty years old. Six decades ago he painted his first canvass and you can say that time has in him a contrary effect to that of common people: less fatigue, more vitality.
