lunes, 25 de octubre de 2010. 10:18Brasilia, Oct 25 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian presidential candidates Dilma Rousseff and Jose Serra on Monday were ratcheting up the personal attacks as campaigning continued for Sunday's election runoff.

As part of the hard-fought dispute for the presidency, Rousseff, candidate of the ruling Workers' Party (PT), and Serra, of the opposition Social-Democratic Party (PSDB), will hold the first TV debate of the week at close to midnight tonight.

The mutual personal attacks are expected to increase during tonight's debate as the race heats up to replace the popular Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who got deeply involved in campaigning for his candidate over the weekend.

Though polls give Rousseff a 5-14 percent lead over Serra, her campaign staff preferred not to talk about figures, and called on PT members not to be overconfident, and beef up the propaganda to attract as many votes as possible.

Apart from the TV debate tonight, Rousseff and Serra planned to face each other again on Wednesday and Thursday, which will close the free and compulsory campaigning in the national media.hr/rab/dig/ale.
