2010.10.21 - 19:33:22 / [email protected]. Havana, Cuba.- The 24th edition of Havana’s International Contemporary Music Festival will be held from October 30th through November 6th, according to information provided on Thursday by its president, composer Guido Lopez Gavilan.

Lopez Gavilan underlined that, on this occasion, the event will coincide with the season of Cuban concerts (October 23-26) and with the Meeting of the Association of Latin American Art Music Composers (October 27-30).

In this regard, he highlighted that this institution brings outstanding creators together, with whom Cuban musicians -especially the youngest- will have the opportunity to exchange experiences, as well as to listen to some of their most emblematic pieces.

Conceived to update participants on the most recent developments in the world of the so-called concert music, the Festival is essential to premiere in Cuba a large amount of pieces or to listen to others from other nations.

Among foreign participants we find Swiss flutist Antipe da Stella, the Struny string quartet from Uruguay, the Guitar Ensamble from Veracruz, the Dream Art Guitar Duo, from Mexico, and composers Jean Ives Bosseor and Karolina Leedo, from France and Denmark, respectively.

Almost all the Cuban groups in this music genre will participate in the event, among them the National Choir and the Polyphonic Choir of Havana, the Camerata Romeu, the group Musica Eterna, the Concertante Trio, the Pro-Music Duo, and Soloists from La Habana.

The cultural ALBA Center will be the venue of the Guitar Fiesta on October 31, when a group of prominent Cuban and foreign performers, especially young artists, will offer two concerts with pieces by Latin American composers.

The meeting will also include talks, workshops and keynote lectures by renowned artists.
