Confidence and optimism prevail among the members of the Cuban baseball team that will participate in the Intercontinental Cup, which begins on Saturday here.

Most members of the team believe the tournament will be difficult, but that it is possible to return home with the title, especially after Cuba finished second in the FIBA Americas Championship in Puerto Rico a week ago.

First baseman Jose Dariel Abreu said in an exclusive to Prensa Latina that it was important to maintain high self-esteem and aggressiveness in the field to reach the final.

We are a good team, complete in all aspects of the game. We only need to believe we can win to do it,    said Abreu, 23, one of the leading players in the last Cuban championship.
