10/08/2010. Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa will not be able to attend events scheduled to mark the 190th anniversary of the independence of the city of Guayaquil, as for medical prescription he should be specially careful with his knee for another two weeks.

According Confirmado.net website, the president's right knee was affected in the wake of the criminal attack of September 30. The doctors who implanted a prosthesis in his knee and gave him 25 stitches recommended no major physical activity and strictly no travel at all because his knee is inflamed and might get worse by an infection.

Doctors Pablo Ramos and Julio Yepez agreed on saying that an excessive effort by him under these circumstances is counterproductive and therefore he will not be able to travel.

They warned that changing weather conditions in the country's coastal areas do not favor a de-inflammatory process and therefore he is also not expected to attend the Amazonian Summit on October 12.
