HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 7 (acn) Cuba and Venezuela signed on Thursday, during the closing in Havana of the 11th Bi-national Technical Committee, a new document that gives continuity to the Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement for Higher Education.

As an expression of a common political will, and motivated by concrete results,the agreement incorporated the areas of postgraduate courses, probationary teaching and consultancy; research, development and innovation projects; and the grand-national ALBA- Education project.

Cuba's Higher Education Minister Miguel Diaz-Canel and Venezuela's Minister of Popular Power for Higher Education, Edgardo Antonio Ramirez, signed the document that marks a new stage, aimed at advancing in the construction of socialism by
way of knowledge.

Ramirez expressed that the result of this technical meeting, which began on October 4, represents a greater commitment with that social system on the part of the two peoples.

He added that the work done is not a dead letter; on the contrary, it's the symbol of successes in the processes of struggle of Latin American nations.

We have shared criteria and experiences, asserted Diaz-Canel, but also difficulties, mistakes and obstacles that are necessary to eradicate.

He commented that the meeting took place from an intelligent, cultured and participatory perspective, because only educated peoples will be free, as stated by Cuba's National Hero Jose Marti.

The meeting reaffirmed that educational work and ideological and political training are priorities in the education of the two nations, in the face of the threat of the US imperialism hegemony.

Also present in the meeting were Gustavo Cobreiro, rector of the University of Havana; Ena Elsa Velázquez, Minister of Education; Ronald Blanco La Cruz,Venezuela's ambassador to Havana; officials from the ministries of the two nations, and other guests.
